Music & Dance
“I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” Psalm 104:33
The majority of all Orthodox Christian worship is through song or chant. The Nativity of Christ choir is comprised of faithful stewards who lead the congregation in prayer by offering their voices to the glory of God in song. Singing a cappella in the Byzantine tradition, the choir always welcomes new members and practices weekly after Sunday services. Please contact Director, Maria Passeris, for more information.
“Let them praise His name with dancing.” Psalm 149:3
Dancing has always been a way to celebrate life and glorify God. Our youth have the opportunity to learn traditional Greek dances and perform in authentic costumes; both competitively and for the greater Marin community.
Dance groups practice throughout the year and learn several dances from various regions in Greece. The season culminates with the annual Metropolis of San Francisco Folk Dance Festival. This event attracts thousands of Orthodox participants from several western states. For more information about the Nativity of Christ Dance Ministry, please contact Directors, Vasili and Effie Fourakis.
